Introduction to StSS

School to School Support is a key component of Teaching Schools. iTSA works with other schools to support specific areas as requested and help to identify areas of strengths and developments.

iTSA will co-ordinate support, identify priorities and then ensure that the best leaders and practitioners are working with you to improve the quality of teaching and leadership in the areas required.

Your school may work with some of the following:

National Leaders of Education

NLEs are strong school leaders, who have experience of effectively supporting schools in challenging circumstances. NLEs work alongside teaching schools and other system leaders to provide high quality support to those who need it most.

National Leaders of Governance

NLGs are highly effective chairs of governors who use their skills and experience to provide coaching and mentoring support to another chair of governors to improve school and academy performance.

Local Leaders of Education

LLEs are headteachers  are able to demonstrate experience of providing coaching and mentoring support to another headteacher or a senior member of staff at a school other than their own. Their own school will show consistently high levels of pupil performance or continued improvement over the last three years.

Specialist Leaders of Education 

SLEs are experienced middle or senior leaders with a specialism (for example, mathematics, ITT, behaviour). This role is about developing other leaders so that they have the skills to lead their own teams and improve practice in their own schools.
